The Precis ontology and toolkit were developed to provide a standardized way of representing and managing personal professional metadata. This metadata includes information such as educational degrees and courses, work experience, and portfolio items such as publications, projects, and talks. I developed and used this framework to manage my personal Resume and during, and after Graduate School.

The Precis ontology provides a flexible and extensible framework for modeling this data, allowing users to easily represent and manage their own metadata. The ontology is built on the Resource Description Framework (RDF), a widely-used standard for representing data on the Semantic Web.
The Precis toolkit extends the ontology by providing additional tools and functionality. This includes a JSON loading tool for importing data into the ontology, a simple Pythonic query API for accessing information stored in the ontology, and an extensible templating engine for generating CVs and resumes using the data stored in the ontology.
The Precis ontology and toolkit were designed to be user-friendly and accessible, making it easy for individuals to manage and share their professional metadata. This can be useful for a variety of purposes, such as creating a comprehensive online portfolio, applying for jobs or grants, or simply organizing and managing personal professional information.
Overall, the Precis ontology and toolkit provide a valuable tool for individuals looking to better manage and share their professional metadata. Its flexible and extensible design, combined with user-friendly tools and functionality, make it a valuable resource for anyone looking to represent and manage their personal professional data.
