Lifestream (previously Ghostframe) is a photo-sharing application that allows users to view and contribute to a livestream of photos taken nearby. The app is designed to give users the experience of attending world-famous events such as the World Cup or Oktoberfest in Germany, but from the comfort of their own devices. With Lifestream, users can view the newest or best-rated photos, and easily add their own photos through the camera button. The app is built using a combination of Dropbox, iOS, JavaScript, MongoDB, and Node.js, and has a simple and intuitive user interface.
Lifestream was developed for DubHacks at the
University of Washington, where it was recognized for its innovative concept and effective implementation and won the
Dropbox API Award. The app has a restful API that allows it to be easily implemented on other platforms, making it a versatile and adaptable solution for photo-sharing. In addition, Lifestream’s use of Dropbox to host image assets allows for efficient and scalable storage of user-generated content.
